Review of Peepli Live (2010) by Akshay K — 02 Jan 2011
Okay: First off, this is not a "traditional" Bollywood movie, and there are no song and dance numbers. Still, I laughed out loud at a lot of the dialogue, especially between Natha's wife and mother. I swear, you normally don't see anywhere NEAR the kind of profanity and insult-comedy in Indian cinema as in this film.
HOWEVER, the ending lacked, well....AN ENDING! It seemed like the director ran out of money or something, and rolled credits. Weird.
And I have to wonder: Is all that is required of running a farm in India truly...sitting around smoking pot all day? (It's almost like this movie is the first real Bollywood "Stoner Comedy." LOL.).
