Review of Parasite Eve (1997) by Joseph C — 13 Jul 2008
I've seen some really bad stuff come out of Japan, enough to make me stay away from anything not martial arts-related that comes from there. But this film was a very different experience. Parasite Eve, based on the novel by Hideaki Sena, does a fine job of bringing the characters and plot from the book to life.
The acting is top notch and the special effects, which are amazing for its time, do nothing but compliment the story and the depth of the plot. The movie takes awhile to get going, but there are plenty of things to enjoy about this film before it gets really deep into the story.
Definitely check it out, especially if you've read the novel.
