Good acting by ford and oldman but overall this film doesn't do the book it's justice and this film just becomes another predictable mystery suspense thriller with no thrill. maybe the adaptation lacked somewhere and again, I think that the adaptation in the screenplay is where a lot of this fell through.

..adapting a screenplay is huge job and if not done well will not convey the same excitement that the book brought.
