Review of Paperman (2012) by Nathan E — 09 Nov 2012
This is truly the future of Walt Disney Animation Studios. This short film combines the expressiveness of a drawn character with the fluidity of computer generated imagery. I could turn away from it. The marriage of the old and new was mesmerizing.
The story is expertly and beautifully told. No dialogue is spoken, so the animation tells the story. Good animation doesn't need clever one-liners to convey themes and story. This is akin to something like the "Married Life" montage in Up.
I sincerely hope this film wins the Oscar for best animated short. It certainly deserves it.
