Review of Palo Alto (2014) by Josh O — 13 Sep 2014
With Palo Alto Gia Coppola starts off her career with a very strong directorial début. Though lacking in plot it is very much focused on character and though it basically is young rich teenager problems that doesn't stop the film from being engaging.
It manages to be sterile, person and hypnotic with lovely cinematography and a great soundtrack. And though it shares some similarities with her aunt's work (Sofia Coppola) it is still unique enough voice to stand out from other filmmakers.
Anchored by great performances from a very strong young cast, Palo Alto may not be for everyone but I found it to be a very good film.
