Review of Overnight (2003) by Nicolas L — 19 Jul 2008
This documentary unfolds like a step-by-step guide on how to fuck yourself over in the movie business. There's an old adage in the industry that goes: "You're only as good as your last film.
" Troy Duffy, describing himself as a kid from the streets who had nothing (I wonder what his friends, family, ex-bandmates would have to say), had obviously not heard it. He certainly acts like he's the shit, with his tantrums and his answers for everything, but no one in the course of the film obviously alerted him to the fact that he's not the only ego in Hollywood, and certainly not the biggest.
I find it hard that anyone who bursts onto the scene with nothing but a typical rags-to-riches story, NO MOVIE EXPERIENCE under his belt and the attitude of an ungrateful asshole would go anywhere. Sure there are plenty of assholes in the business, but they have talent.
