Review of Onibaba (1964) by Adam L — 08 Jul 2008
A primal, singuarly unique, haunting tale of the human condition of sexual and survival desperation. There is no other movie that can be categorized along side it. It is a must see.
Visually stark and sparsley stylish, "the hole" can be seen borrowed from this film in many, many movies.
Shindo proves himself to be the Yin to Kurowa's Yang.
"Stylish" "atmospheric" "claustrophobic", these adjectives seem to have been invented for this film.
