Review of Okja (2017) by Connor B — 03 Jul 2017

Okja is like someone wrote a draft of a family movie with an R-rating as a joke, but then was allowed to make it. Bong Joon-ho (the director of the incredible Snowpiercer) somehow makes the story of a superpig destined to become bacon and her human friend exciting, funny, heartbreaking, and uplifiting all at the same time.

Tilda Swinton and Paul Dano are, as always, incredible, and Jake Gyllenhall gives a delightfully madcap performance. It's an odd flick, but honestly, it's absolutely worth a watch. Just don't eat chicken (or any other meat) while watching it, unless you want to feel slightly guilty.
