Review of Oh, Mr. Porter! (1937) by Duncan W — 01 Oct 2007
You hear it said, far too often, that ' this film will have you laughing out loud.' Few films can actually achieve this, but this truly is one of the few that will. The late, great Will Hay and his team of buggling staff at a rural Irish railway station will have you laughing all the way to the end of the track.
Superb script and scenes that are way before their time for wit and perfect timing. You don't have to look far to see how the Blackadder series is a relative to this type of film and of Hay's other British movies of the same period.
