I have only walked out of a cinema once. The film was shit, it was a Friday afternoon and my mate texted me if I wanted to go to the pub - I went to pub.

The Offender - a depressing depiction of violence, drug dealing and criminality in the prison system - could and really should have been the second time I exited stage left.

What it drastically lacks in plot, dialogue and dramatic tension, it tries to compensate for with shaky, hand-held close-ups, an overloaded score and an onslaught of violence.

I took nothing from it. Nothing.
