Is this film a gripping political drama that concentrates more on the power of advertising than partisan politics? YES. Is Gael Garcia's performance once again layered, subtle, and effective? YES. Do the visuals enhance the film's overall realism? YES. Pero, vamos a decir que no!
No takes a look at the ad campaign that was used to overthrow the Pinochet government with slow-pacing, and dark humor with vintage commercials that are nearly worth the price of admission. The only thing that does not allow me to enjoy No nearly as much is that it is does not look at human relations or any thematic substance. It is a picture in time - very well show if I might add - but nevertheless if this did not affect you, you will find it a bit dry.
