Review of Nixon (1995) by Daniel B — 02 Sep 2007
Severely under appreciated, this is a surprisingly empathetic biopic of Richard Milhous Nixon. Lengthy, complex, and dealing in massive amounts of information, it nonetheless allows Anthony Hopkins to play Nixon as more man than tyrant.
Stone set himself up for trouble, however, when he cast JR (Larry Hagman) as a Texas businessman who appears implicated in the assassination of JFK. Oh well.
