Review of Nixon (1995) by Aaron T — 23 Aug 2008
A truly impressive, fantastic film. You're unlikely to see another one quite like it. Ever.
It is a long film, but it certainly needed to be. Otherwise you wouldn't see Nixon the way Oliver Stone wanted you to. Somehow he managed to show Nixon in a very honest way: you empathized with him and you hated him. He was a complicated human being, and Stone successfully presented him in the way he needed to be presented. His transformation through the film is another amazing thing, pulled off by an amazing script and a perfect performance by Anthony Hopkins.
Possibly the best Stone film I've ever seen.
