Review of Nixon (1995) by Josh K — 26 Sep 2010
Oliver Stone brings another controversial film to the screen, including a very controversial figure: Richard Nixon. Anthony Hopkins excells as Nixon and while you are watching him you can only think of Nixon, you cannot even think of any other character that Hopkins has played, because Hopkins does an incredible job.
Oliver Stone lends terrific direction to the film, from an amazing script, with a superb supporting cast and wonderful cinematography by Robert Richardson. Joan Allen wonderfully portrays Pat Nixon, Richard's wife, Paul Sorvino portrays Henry Kissinger (which Sorvino does a really good job at) and Ed Harris portrays E.
Howard Hunt, one of the culprits of the Watergate Scandal. The film covers many of Nixon's important events as president, including parts of childhood. In the end, the film is a masterpiece, albeit controversial, but still interesting to watch.
