Dan Castle's "Newcastle" is an excellent Australian coming of age drama. The photography and the emotional performances combine for a immersive experience. The things that happen in this film all felt right.
Sure there is some convention at work here but it is all handled with so much grace and honesty that it just works. Lachlan Buchanan is one to watch, he's a great younger actor. The surfing scenes and underwater cinematography are some of the best I have seen.
