Review of New Life (2016) by Skeptic303 — 10 Nov 2016
New Life is the barely known movie about two people who fall in love, but face an impending tragedy that they are mostly unprepared for. While the premise is indeed promising, it is mostly wasted. The first half is a drag that reminded me of a far worse movie: The Choice. Nothing was happening and it took 40 minutes to tell what should have told in about 5 minutes. There's practically nothing of value in the first forty minutes.
However, it does get much better when the tragedy starts to strike. The characters are better, the story starts coming into light and the movie is overall much better. But that isn't to say that the second half is perfect, because the ending lets the second half of the movie down quite a bit. Overall, go see the movie I'll See You in my Dreams. That movie covers its themes way better compared to this because is only worthy of a seal of mediocrity at best. At its worst, it is expendable.
