Review of Nayak: The Real Hero (2001) by Shashank B — 13 Jun 2008
A great anti-corruption political film with hero Anil Kapoor falling in love with a simply naive village belle Rani Mukherjee and squaring off with his main nemesis, villian Amrish Puri. All 3 stars give excellent performances in their own right but they are somewhat cleverly overshadowed by the underrated Paresh Rawal, whose role had me guessing as to whose side was he actually on - Rawal's role and acting were both brilliant as he provided the film's main intrigue.
All the songs were enjoyable and perfectly fit in the plot's context - "Shakalaka Baby" featured Sushmita Sen in a great item song!
