Review of Mutual Appreciation (2005) by Mel V — 05 Sep 2006
This movie was trying to be two different movies at once, so it came off as a poor effort. The characters were compelling enough to make this movie fun to watch, and I became really invested in all of their problems/situations.
The way they looked and acted was really relateable. However, the story was a series of everday life montages that turned into a "like" triangle. The montages weren't interesting enough to make the whole movie, and the story that was tacked on at the end wasn't interesting enough for it to be the movie either.
I think all the montages could have been superior short films, or presented in a long film as short vignettes, but put together in the way they are, they seemed to meander and to drag out the non-existent plot.
