As a big fan of the television show, this movie was such a disappointment. Where were the gags, the slapstick, the outrageous comedy?!? On a more basic level, where was the sweet family interaction, the jokes about Dermot's costumes, the chats around the dining table?! This movie seems to have become completely lost in a rush of over-ambition.

It's as though Brendan O'Carroll was so busy making the story last 90 minutes and spending all his extra money on soulless extras, that he forgot about the jokes and characters that made the show so popular.

Here's to the return of the simple TV show, which will hopefully come sooner rather than later.
