Review of Mr. Nice (2010) by Joshua B — 15 Mar 2010
A great drama/comedy from Bernard Rose ("Candyman"). I liked the style of the film. It's also filled with British humor.
This is the story of a drug smuggler. The main character, Howard Marks, started at Oxford and eventually dealt over four continents. Despite being an international fugitive he doesn't feel he has done anything wrong. The main character is funny and charming.
The movie stars Rhys Ifans (upcoming "Greenberg", "The Replacements") and Chloe Sevigny ("Boys Don't Cry", "American Psycho"). The film also has David Thewlis (The "Harry Potter" series) and a well-hidden Crispin Glover (2010's "Alice in Wonderland", "Back to the Future"). Great acting in this.
Similar to "Blow" but with British humor. I liked the cinematography in this more. I also liked the main character of this movie more. 4/5 stars. (3/14/10).
