Review of Mothlight (1963) by Jeff B — 01 Jul 2007
Off of the complilation DVD Brakhage. This experimental film is simply various insects squeezed in between two strips of film and run through a projector. This may not sound interesting but Stan Brakhage was one of the preeminent experimental filmmakers of the 60's and influenced many people such as Martin Scorsese, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
This is not the strongest of his experiemtal shorts but it is one that can be easily digested. These shorts were probably the precursor to what today we would call multi-media.
