Review of Mommy (2014) by Dani P — 09 Nov 2014
An already accomplished filmmaker at only 25, Dolan shows in this movie the extent of his talent when it comes to representing empathy and feelings. Also, he loves people who struggle and are at-a-loss to understand what's happening to them but who still fight to make something out of their lives.
He has all of this with the scenario and afterwards, it's just showing off his talent in a great fashion. The way he uses this particular square screen (and more precisely the changes from square to regular) give way to two of the most extraordinary scenes ever made.
