Review of Mogambo (1953) by Christine G — 05 Nov 2007
"Mogambo" is a classic. this word often excuses bad films, but here it's not enough. Not even the fact that it was made by John Ford helps it. It's, of course, not awful, but it's not precisely great either.
Maybe watching it on TV with a terrible image didn't help much, but despite good (not spectacular) cinematography, and good acting (by the whole cast, once again, not outstanding), it fails to convey much emotion.
It's the first time EVER I believe a film actually needs a remake. It would actually make it more exciting. "Mogambo" is a good movie to watch on Sundays, like I just did.
