American woman goes on an expedition to the Congo jungles to find her missing husband and finds a tribe of near men - the missing link between ape and man. She dedicates herself to being accepted by the tribe and is willfully taken as a mate and becomes pregnant by an ape man.
Her dedication to science can not be disputed but her decisions may raise some eyebrows back home with new baby due just beyond 9 months of her husband's disappearance. Songs "Ape Lady" and "Mistress of the Apes" do somewhat undermine whatever credibility there was in the plot.
