Review of Milk (2005) by Thomas R — 01 Nov 2010
To me this was the best film of 2008. Sean Penn was absolutely incredable. There wasnt a weak spot anywhere in the cast. This feels less like a film and more like a documentary. I thought it was great how they edited together old news clips with the rest of the film I was glad it won the academy award for achievement in film editing.
Gus Van Sant really did an outstanding job orchestrating all the integral parts and made them all flow together beautifully. I didn't love watching all the gay love scenes but it was still a great film, one of my favorites.
I also loved Diego Luna as the overly sensitve lover of Harvey Milk. As much as I loved No Country For Old Men, from start to finish Milk is a stronger film, in my opinion.
