Review of Milk (1998) by Tim C — 31 Aug 2010
Amazing film that reminds us all the value of our civil rights in our society. Sean Penn deserves his Best Actor Oscar capturing Harvey Milk( 1930- 1978), the first openly gay man to be elected to a government position.
From his early days in New York, to his days as a civil rights activist in Castro, the film weaves his story and how by challenging the machine, even into his political term should inspre politicians everywhere, as well as their constituents to stand up for what they believe in and fight for it.
Though times have changed, this fight for equality has not. This film is not afraid to be political, and is not afraid to say something. More films should also not have that fear.
