Review of Mike Case in: The Big Kiss Off (2013) by Lee M — 27 Jun 2016
Mike Case in: The Big Kiss Off is basically a loving but also tongue-in-cheek hommage to old school film noir of the hardboiled detective variety, with more than a few nods to the classic The Big Sleep.
That's not to say the film can't stand on its own feet, because it can, and it tells a very entertaining story - now sure, the story doesn't always make perfect sense (at least upon first viewing), but in all honesty, neither does The Big Sleep - which is where this comes full circle, you will probably like Mike Case in: The Big Kiss Off more if you understand the references, but it's well enough paced, acted and directed that it works as a slightly tongue-in-cheek thriller or crime comedy for everyone.
