Review of Memphis Belle (1990) by Terence G — 11 Jul 2007
What makes this one of my all-time favourite WAR movies, is the claustrophobic backdrop to this movie. I can only think of "Crimson Tide" and "Hunt for Red October" where you could feel the cast living in each others pockets.
Despite the PG rating, it is brutal stuff. Imagine going on 25 missions over heavily defended Europe and surviving. It shows graphically the ruthlessness of war. The cast is a spot the "future star".
Great stuff along the lines of "Saving Private Ryan" in capturing the reality of war.
