Review of Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God (2012) by Courtenay C — 15 Feb 2013
I chose to watch this film believing it to go into the deaf community...and schools for the deaf. It was, but it was more. Handicapped children, and unfortunately severe and profound deaf children were throw away humans for hundreds of years.
Schools for the deaf were safe havens for more than one Father Murphy. Placing the shocker of the movie aside, my take away was the endurance, strength, control, and passion for justice by a few deaf "boys" possessed for one priest's removal.
I wish the world could learn about deaf culture and the deaf through the act of one deaf man: the first letter.
