Review of Maslin Beach (1997) by Robbie M — 09 Dec 2009
This is a series of vignettes that unfold on a nude beach in Australia. I watched it because I heard it had a good "screenplay." In fact, it was pretty awful, but it did have a few endearing qualities, not least in its central figure, played throughout entirely togless.
The nudity actually translated to metaphorical nakedness on rare occasion, but without saving the film from being generally unfunny and tedious. However, the movie had magical powers, because the fact of my watching it last night produced six Australians as customers at my workplace today, two of whom were cute, one of which laid down $160 on books.
Yay, Oz!
