"Mary Kom" doesn't do anything particularly new for the sports drama genre but it follows a solid formula very well. One aspect of the movie that makes it very captivating is Priyanka Chopra's lead performance.

Her portrayal of the titular character is handled well and she becomes easy to empathize with and root for. I found great enjoyment in this movie and think it is a solid entry for sports movies. I do feel certain plot points are less engaging and the movie isn't structured in the best way, but it never hinders too much from the movie overall.

All in all, it's a true story that'll both entertain you and inspire you which is all I can expect from this sort of biopic.
