This feminist revenge saga from Indonesia is a film of many contradictions. It has the tension of Western movies, but with the grace of contemplative arthouse cinema. Every scene is framed like a gorgeous still photo.
The beauty of the images is juxtaposed with burst of graphic violence. But at the heart of the film is a tender tale of tradition, family, and empowerment.
