Review of Margaret (2011) by Jesse O — 11 Aug 2012
Anna Paquin is amazing in her role as the lead character in this film. She transforms herself completely into an angry, confused, upset, and spiteful 17-year-old girl. Prior to seeing this film, I had no particular like or dislike for Paquin, but as I watched this film, I came to utterly hate (yes, I know I split that infinitive) her: she ceased being Anna Paquin and became Lisa, a character who grows ever more loathsome as the film progresses.
The film itself is an above average drama--very good but not great--but Paquin's performance is magnificent.
