Review of Mad Monkey Kung Fu (1979) by Allan C — 28 Feb 2016
I'm kind of a sucker for marital arts films that feature comic kung-fu styles like "Drunken Master," which director Chia-Liang Liu (who I always think of as Lau Kar Leung) also directed. However, despite solid production values and some clever fight sequences, the lead actors in the film, one of them being Lau Kar Leung, just aren't as funny or as charismatic as Jackie Chan and the comedy often comes off more annoying than funny; kind of like my reaction to most Jim Carrey films.
Still, the fight sequences are done well enough to make this film worth checking out for fans of the genre.
