Review of Mad City (1997) by Cc F — 31 Jul 2007
Wow, it's almost as if the director set out and said to himself, "Gee, how can I make a movie and present broadcast journalism in the worst light possible?" A sad movie with comedic undertones thanks to amazing performances by the well-cast Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta.
Mia Kirshner isn't so bad either...though with that sexy voice of hers, it would have been better if this were a movie about broadcast radio rather than television journalism. Picture "John Q.
" only without the gutwrenchingly serious Denzel Washington and instead of the greedy insurance companies, we have the ruthless vultures from the 6 o'clock news.
