Review of Machuca (2004) by Bassam K — 26 Oct 2007
Excellent movie: story, directing, and acting. Machuca is about a period of the history of a country, torn socially and economically between the left and the right, as seen by the eyes of its children.
While the classes clashed in the streets of Chile, several children were able to mix in a school and they bonded thanks to the vision of its director/priest. This movie offers a human story; its powerful theme is valid beyond the borders of Chile and Latin America.
I watched the movie twice to appreciate more the the development of the supporting characters that I missed on the first time.
