Review of Loulou (1980) by Sarah B — 05 Jul 2007
No other French film can claim to have Depardieu held for life in such an ape-like natural role - one he attacks with laziness and beer grulfing gusto. A layabout, his whoreish, fringed lazy-loving lover and some finely creepy moustaches make this movie an experience not unlike gazing into a Soho bookshop window through lemon-tinted specs, whilst listening to a French language tape and feeling aroused by a boob near an ash tray on a Sunday afternoon when you know you shouldn't be drinking.
Half an hour too long.
