Review of Little Criminals (1995) by Tony H — 25 Feb 2009
An absurdly moving film which fuses witness-style camera work and cutaways of recorded therapy sessions, against an impoverished backdrop. The melancholic and angsty soundtrack aids a circling storm which culminates in an ending which was never going to be happy, but still manages to pull all the intended emotions out of you.
Unfortunately an extremely rare sighting, particularly outside its native Canada, it has never had a commercial release which means many will sadly miss out on this stunningly compiled independent - dare I say it - masterpiece.
