Review of Life Itself (2014) by Ojas V — 12 Jul 2014
A fitting tribute to the contrarian and outspoken advocate of film, Roger Ebert. It is especially poignant for showing the most difficult scenes of his final days, and his determination to be heard. It's definitely a labor of love for the director, who was given great access by Roger's devoted wife.
..but the remarkable story of this egotistical journalist who went on to bring the art of film to everyday households is worth watching. This documentary feels authentic, because it doesn't shy away from showing his flaws.
The internet is full of Roger Ebert wannabes (myself included) but there is no doubt he was an original. YES, TWO THUMBS UP!
