Review of Last Cab to Darwin (2015) by Jesse O — 21 Feb 2017
The Australian 'Last Cab to Darwin' is living proof that great movies can fly well under the radar of mainstream moviegoers. Michael Caton plays Rex, who has terminal stomach cancer. He's joined on his journey of death by Emma Hamilton a nurse, turned barmaid, and Mark Coles Smith, a down on his luck athlete. The trio have a fantastic chemistry, but one thing is missing the love of his life, Polly played by Ningali Lawford.
This one kind of sneaks up on you. If you saw Caton in 'Castle' you might expect a comedy, but despite plenty of laughs, 'Last Cab to Darwin' will make you cry plenty. I learned a bit about Aussie life also. Who knew there was as much racism there. This is one taxi ride you'll enjoy and won't have to pay for! Final Score: 9.5/10.
