Review of Labyrinth (1959) by Briar Euphoria V — 30 Apr 2014
Labyrinth, an obnoxiously glittery film, brings together in the best way possible the overwhelming skill of director Jim Henson, vocalist and lyricist David Bowie, surrealist Salvador Dali, and fantasy artist Brian Froud.
In this retelling of the bedtime classic Alice In Wonderland, Connelly's character, Sarah, is forced to let go of what she thinks she knows and be swept away by a world of impossibilities in order to save her baby brother, Toby.
As far as children's movies go, this movie earns a place among the top ten in sheer artistic inventiveness alone.
