Review of Krisha (2016) by Jesus C — 14 Jun 2017
After being floored by Trey Edward Shults' new second film, It Comes At Night, I decided to watch his first film. Krisha, a 2015 independent family drama. This has to be my favorite family drama I've ever seen. For a film with a very small budget that was shot for only a week and filled with very inexperienced actors; the cinematography was so stunning, the cast was so outstanding, and the writing was superb. Trey managed to get his friends and family, including himself, to give such stellar performances for people who have never been in front of a camera. The only problem I've faced was that a few scenes never got me fully invested into the story, but this film is an example that shows that Trey Shults is one of the most talented filmmakers of this generation. I cannot wait for his future projects.
8.5/10.
