Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Marcus Y — 15 Nov 2008
A truly brilliant film and one that could even be in my top ten. It has a beautifully touching and simple plot that is well written and very well cast. Hoffman, it transpires, was actually going through a divorce when the film was being made so in a a sense, he is actually playing himself.
As a result it is one of the best performances I have seen for him. The child actor who plays Hoffman's son is exceptional. You can really tell that they had struck up a friendship and work so well together.
I can see why it cleared up at the oscars. If you haven't seen it, watch it!
