A truimph of modern film, and deserving of classic status. Peter Jackson is the "King Kong" of special effects; he knows perfectly well when the special effects begin to drown out the substance of the picture.
His films are beautiful to look at, entertaining to watch, emotionally gripping, and narritively spellbinding. Jackson is one of the few great blockbuster directors, and King Kong may very well turn out to be his magnum opus.
