Kevin James is an odd comedian. One, he manages to make common comedy fodder funny. Judging from all his movie roles, you wouldn't expect that at all. Two, he's clean, but not shitty clean like all those family-friendly comedians.
You might call him a less-accomplished Brian Regan in that regard. Finally, his mastery of physical comedy is his greatest strength. Material that would seem banal in the hands of the average comedian becomes special in Kevin James'.
He knows how to work a crowd, and his timing is impeccable.
