Review of Keoma (1976) by Christopher S — 09 Feb 2009
A very cool spaghetti western that feels almost comic book-like in many ways with lots of creative editing and atmospheric shots and cinematography. There's lots of action, lots of slow-mo, and a killer central anti-hero played by the legendary Franco Nero.
The wailing musical interludes sometimes work and sometimes get irritating, but it's a classical device that isn't often used in film. The movie is relentless in its depravity and its violence, and the final showdown is hair-raising.
See it.
