Review of Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1977) by Jacob P — 01 Jan 2010
Probably the best adaptation of the Jules Verne novel in which clues are found to a route to the centre of the Earthg, left by adventurer Arnie Saknussen. James Mason gives his usual high quality performance as Professor Lindstrom who leads a motley crew of assistants through a well-imagined Technicolor subterannean fantasy world.
One might also check out Rick Wakeman's sublime musical version on CD. Don't bother with the Brandon Fraser version which appears to be an extended ad for a video game.
