Review of Jolly Fellows (1934) by Stella D — 01 Apr 2013
Ok this film deserves a review. this is the first soviet musical comedy, quite unique and a bit rough but well done for 1934. starts off as a sort of collectivist farm musical with a shepherd who is mistaken for a famous orchestra leader.
when he's invited to a fancy party his animals soon follow, leading to a wild dinner scene that would make buñuel proud. from there he's off to the city and further adventures in a rowdy jazz band.
more like the marx brothers than lubitsch but it's great fun and can be found on mosfilms youtube channel absolutely free!~.
