Possibly the most ambitious project by writer/director Don Hertzfeldt, It's Such A Beautiful Day focuses on an unexceptional middle-aged man who is slowly dying of a vaguely-defined brain disease. Stitched together from three short films with some new footage, the viewer is subjected to dark humor and existentialist hand-wringing as the mind of the protagonist steadily erodes.

Simple animation, forceful sound editing, and a careful selection of music combine into a movie experience that's chilling, hilarious, and chillingly hilarious. This film left an impacting impression on me and I'm sure many others will feel the same way.
