Review of Into Thin Air: Death on Everest (1997) by Louis L — 01 Aug 2010
There is an exhilaration to doing something difficult that makes difficult things worth striving for. But this is a cautionary tale about hubris. To always remember that these things worth doing are hard, even when you have done them before. Because something always changes. One of the main characters exclamation of "I am invincible!" starts as bravado and turns to irony.
Liked it for its way of drawing you into caring about the characters, even though you really only see one person's point of view and he spends way too much time forshadowing the events to come. They could have edited it better for the movie version without too much trouble. But worth watching as a cautionary tale.
